Bat Colony Removal in Ponderay

We install custom one-way exclusion devices at every entry point on the structure. Bats exit naturally but cannot return. The colony vacates in 5 to 10 days depending on size and season. After the colony has left, we remove the devices and seal every opening permanently. No trapping, no poison, no harm to the bats. Every exclusion is compliant with Idaho Fish and Game regulations and federal bat protection law.

About Ponderay and the North Idaho region

Ponderay is a small city in Bonner County in the northern panhandle, immediately north of Sandpoint near the shore of Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho's largest and deepest lake. The town's name reflects the ponderosa pine that blanketed the region, and it grew along the rail lines that converge in the area. Today Ponderay serves as a commercial and retail corridor for the Sandpoint area while sitting within striking distance of the lake, the Pend Oreille River, and the surrounding Selkirk and Cabinet mountain ranges. Forested slopes, wetlands near the lakeshore, and a mix of older homes and newer development characterize the setting. The combination of deep-lake shoreline, conifer forest, and mountain backdrop gives Ponderay the classic water-and-timber landscape of the north-Idaho lake country.

Lake Pend Oreille, the Pend Oreille River, and the surrounding conifer forest give bats around Ponderay outstanding foraging over open water and abundant tree and rock roosts in the Selkirk and Cabinet foothills. Little brown myotis and big brown bats are the species most likely to use buildings, with Yuma myotis hunting the lakeshore and long-legged and long-eared myotis favoring the forest. Older lakeside homes and outbuildings offer attic and wall spaces where summer maternity colonies can settle, entering through eave and gable gaps.

Common questions about bat removal in Ponderay

Why can't I just seal the bats in or use poison?

Sealing bats inside is illegal under Idaho and federal law. Poison is prohibited for bats entirely. Humane one-way exclusion is the only legal method and the only method that works permanently.

When is the best time to do bat removal in Idaho?

Spring (March through May) and late summer through fall (August 15 through October) are the two ideal windows. We do not do exclusions during the maternity season when flightless pups are present, roughly June through mid-August, because sealing exits during that period traps juveniles inside.

How long does the process take?

After devices are installed, the colony clears in 5 to 10 days. We then return to remove devices and permanently seal every opening. Total project time is typically one to two weeks depending on colony size and weather.

Do you serve all of Idaho?

Yes. We serve statewide Idaho, from Bonners Ferry in the north to the Utah border in the south. Call us regardless of your location and we will give you a straight answer on whether we can get to you.

How much does bat removal cost in Idaho?

Pricing depends on the building structure and the size of the colony. Call (208) 629-1176 for a straight answer on what your situation requires.
